Since breaking onto the Australian electronic music scene in 2014, Morgan Then and Fletcher Ehlers have tapped into a kinetic chemistry that has scored them multiple Gold records and worldwide touring success. With their synergy stronger than ever, SLUMBERJACK has blossomed into a new era with their “Black & Blue” EP released in early 2020, which features their standout Daktyl collaboration “Crucified” ft. MOONZz.
At the start of 2019, the Perth-based duo brought their music to new heights on their SARAWAK EP including collaborations with both TroyBoi and Ekali, and the Triple J-playlisted “Hide and Seek”, pushing their total streams to over 100 million across all platforms. The result was a fitting follow-up to their 2017 Fracture EP, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Australia electronic chart and featured an ARIA Gold-certified title track.
“The goal has always been to write music that’s different from everything else we’ve done and to explore new genres, new sounds and new instruments,” says Ehlers. In regards to the group’s shows, he adds, “There should be moments where you just absorb something ugly or unusual, and then get the payoff later when you experience something beautiful. We don’t want to have people just going crazy the whole time — we want to give them a show that takes them on some kind of a journey.”
